The IBC (Luton) Rip Off Programme

Year after year IBC Luton openly boasts to us about the huge increase in sales of GM products in Europe. It is a fact that for over 20 years every car and van has been sold before it left the factory. This means huge profits are massively increasing due to workers commitment to company demands.

Every target has been reached and in most cases vastly improved. Yet, the recognition for the IBC workers level of commitment, loyalty and dedication is this utterly disgraceful separation offer. Employees are being treated as if they are brainless and not able to make a judgement.

The package is totally unjust and the action of local management. It is time for managers to stand up and be counted and show some respect for their fellow human beings.

Alas, the faith of decent workers in a sense of company fair play and decent treatment is misplaced. Only spineless bullying management could have the audacity to expect this offer to be accepted.

Despite all the restrictions placed on the Trade Union in our wonderful Democracy the Union managed to show their total disgust. Their advice about how anti human this offer is compared to mainland Europe, clearly demonstrates the contempt IBC management has for decent hard working people. How much is Snow White giving her Prince and ten dwarfs to go at Christmas? Will their compensation figures be on display at the next Business Review or even on a Team Brief?

The Globalization of labour must also mean the globalization of human respect, dignity and integrity. These are the priorities and aims that we count on when we drag ourselves into the sweat shop day in day out. This package shows that we are a long way from the goal of human decency in action. Shame on the users and abusers
