The picture shows participants from different countries visiting the plant in Rayong, Thailand. The union there were founded in 2006 with great success in getting members in the plant. Since the union has been established the labor relations has been very difficult and the union representatives are facing a lot of challenges in the plant. Therefore, the IMF and unions from all over the world support strongly the union in Rayong and demand for a fair communication and information process by local Management and the guarantuee of workers' and unions' rights without any disadvantages for the union representatives in the plant.

Hi Fritz, we talked about your proposal only shortly during the global meeting because the unions from other regions are facing a lot of crucial problems too. The violation of workers and unions rights by GM management is a hot topic for everybody outside the European union or Canada and the US. Even in Europe people in Poland are facing a management who seems not to be willing to accept these rights (Tychy, Bielsko-Biala). We talked about the worse situation in Rayong/ThailaND; GM Daewoo in South Korea, Togliatti/Russia and Gravatia/Brazil. We are going to challenge GM on that. We talked also about several other important issues like supporting the blog and how to deal with the global strategy of GM. We had good discussions and took some important decisions to really act as "globalized unions". We will post a report on that here in the blog. Your proposal will be discussed further in the pre-meeting of the Delta working group next week. Hope that's ok for you. How is the situation in Eisenach after the decision of GME not tol allocate the next Astra in the plant?
Thanks for publishing the meeting in advance and giving the opportunity to participate in discussions!
What do you think about a strategy of worldwide shorter working time with the same pay as before as response to rapidly growing productivity all over the world. We in Eisenach make the Corsa in 15 hours, now they tell other plants to make the Astra in 15 hours. Up to now they need 24 hours. This would be 37,5 percent faster. As a response we could work 37,5 percent shorter without loosing money. We will go on producing ten thousands of jobles workers unless we fight for shorter working time!
