Solidarity to the Oshawa workers by CNM/CUT, Brazil
To Chris Buckley.
Dear brothers and sisters from CAW at GM Oshawa,
GM is following the trend of many other corporations, to put pressure on the workers, blaming their good quality jobs for its momentary difficulties. We, metalworkers and union leaders at National Metalworkers Confederation fully endorse and support your struggle.
This GM behaviour puts in danger not only thousands of workers but also their families and, consequently the community they live in. What we have to be conscious is that this halt in Oshawa is only the top of the iceberg. Many other plants around the world is in danger now too.
Moreover, we’ll inform the workers at GM in Brazil and recommend to them not to do any extra-production of parts that could replace an eventual production loss due to your struggle.
You can count on the brazilian metalworkers’ support! Your struggle is our struggle!
In solidarity,
Carlos Alberto Grana Valter Sanches
CNM/CUT President General Secretary
