MORE DOWN DAYS IN U.K.

As a non GMM Luton workers I am not going to comment on any decision-making process, but I would like to comment on the fact of a corridor agreement.

What we can see at the moment at General Motors Europe is that plants where corridor agreements does exist the workers do not have to suffer so much facing a decrease of volume. Look to Antwerp. Management asked for years for the legal option for that. The unionw pushed the government to change legislation and now GM Management is not willing to implement it because it is cheaper if the workers have to suffer for the downturn. You can read here in the blog that they only get 8 €!! that is one reason why the union there is fighting for a change.

as a gmm luton employee i am angry that the union have given the company the corridor agreement with out a fight and without even counsulting the workforce in a ballot.so much for a democratic process . either you accept it in this form or this form ! what gives conveners the right to take away the rights of members with no consultation.

i work at ellesmere port,i heard a german plant was for the chop

so far a total of 11 days have been announced for gmm luton ,with rumours of more in nov and dec . the future looks bleak

it was announced today by gm that they are cutting production by 40000 cars and shutting down european plants for up to two weeks ellesmere port employees were told friay morning at 10am shutting for two weeks

When did you find this info out? Having finished shift on Fri morning and now on 2 days lay off has there been another announcement of future downshifts?

In Antwerpen it's the same.Each week on friday, we get a message that there will be more down days.We are also not working on the two last weeks of october and one week in november.In total it's 24 days now.
