List of GM plants to be closed by GM or in danger with no successor product

Brothers and sisters, colleagues, comrades, we are planning to publish an overview in the blog which plants are planned to close by GM and which plants are in serious danger because of no successor product.

Furthermore, we are planning to list an overview of new plants be be build by GM in so-called "emerging markets". You will see that some plants are danger because of a wrong product portfolio whre GM Management ignored market demands for many times and other plants are in danger because of "strategic" decision made or to be made by GM (we called it political decisions).

GM is in financial trouble in the US but nevertheless GM is spending a lot of money to build new capacities in "emerging markets", but not only to target market demands in this countries but also to change the Manufacturing Footprint of its plants to for exporting cars in the future from emerging market countries like China, India, Russia, Mexico, Uzbekistan.

Please send and post your plant here when it is in danger or foreseen by GM for closure. Please post also any information on new plants built by GM.

What's about Sao José dos Campos in Brazil? The union there said that there plant is in danger too because of a new plant in Joinville, Brazil?
You are right. GM has spend a lot of money for building new Powertrain plants mainly in so-called "emerging markets": one in India, one in China, one in Brazil, Mexico and probably in Russia/Central Asia. In addition to that GM is expanding Powertrain plants in existing plants in Korea and Mexico and built a joint venture with VM Motori (Italy). This is really an tremendous increase of Powertrain capacity at the same time when plants shall be closed and other plants future is in danger.
You should add all the new GM engine plants.
Powertrain plants not only in Canada (Windsor transmission plant), but also in Port Melbourne (Australia). No successor products beyond 2010/2012 for European Powertrain plants in Szentgotthard (HUngary), Bochum (Germany), Kaiserslautern (Germany, Strasbourg (France) and Tychy (Poland).
GMM Luton (IBC)has a contract with Renault untill 2013 to build Vivaro vans. Can't see Renault being to keen to renew it after the way GM treated them when they wanted to buy into GM.Ancient plant only only turns out 20 an hour & in the middle of airport & Vauxhall redevelopment.Bye Bye IBC.
I read in the blog from Australia that the transmission plant in Port Melbourne will be closed by GM as well as a plant in Brazil.
Ellesmere Port ror sure not. As you probably know the plant is safeguarded by a European Framework Delta at least until 2016. Whatever is the cause of your anger it should not lead to a wish for a plant closure which would affect the live of several thousand people
is there any plants in western europe on list hopefully uk ellesmere port so i can take money along aith a couple of thousand others who are fed up
Oshawa truck plant in Canada as you can see here in the blog!! 2600 people are directly affected by the closure plan
Janesville plant in Wisconsin, United States, one out of four which GM announced to be closed.
