GM Mangement reacted to the rejection of supplementary work in Rüsselsheim

this is an inofficial translation of the blog article of 16th of May 2007 – thanks to IB for the translation

The GM managemen today (16th of May 2007) let out a first reaction to the decision of the Rüsselsheim Works Council to reject supplementary work. For the service sector (FM) they plan to offer only the first ten jobs to the employees of the production sector. As the production of the Vectra is comimg to an end, the capacity of the Rüsselsheim plant is not fully used.
Therefore the Works Council consented to the management's request for supplementary work for some special sectors (external building sites and design). The atmosphere in Rüsselsheim remains tense as the Works Council still wants to have at least 30 further jobs in the service sector (FM) given to workers from the production sector and also wants to offer all the free jobs that will be created by part time work for older workers in the years to come.at the plant's own internal job market. On the other hand the management plans to introduce further extensive supplementary work.
Until the end of the Vectra production and the beginning of the Epsilon II production less staff is needed which could be used in other sectors of the plant to save costs in a reasonable way, if the Central Management in Zurich leaves the freedom to decide this to the local management of Rüsselsheim.
