GM is scanning German Opel computers and networks on May 23 - on search for blog users?

Good suggestion i will check this first thing monday morning. We had that mail sent out in Trollhattan too.

I meant the suggestion for adding the search (the tool is there, I just have to find a good place to plug it)

The internal IT departmant ISS wrote in a mail to all German employees that they are planning to scan/screen all networks and computers regarding "private" use. GM has forbidden any "private" use of mail, pc and internet use. In a local contract with the works council a process was defined how to act if there is potential case to protect empoyees and to make sure that the works councils will be involved in every potential case. But the problem is what is " private"? Is it "private" when workers visit a homepage of a union or the www.gmworkersblog.com ? For sure not!! But this is an area which is potentially risky because GM could try to put pressure on workers not to use the blog. Please have a look on the article about Vauxhall and what happened there. We should monitor every step by GM management trying to put pressure on workers or to forbid or to block the access to the blog. Write comments or articles and every comments

To the host country because different laws apply, the same can be said of the internet when policing it by you the controllers of your web site.

Yes, I agree the biggest fear by any company is that they most likely got something to hide & we do need a voice. So this blog site is a good idea , if used wisely.

The question that will be asked is how much control they are permitted by law to be within their rights.
