The result of the ballot on the company final wage offer brought shock and horror for the management and their completely out of touch companions in the Trade Union leadership. Of course it was no surprise for the workers. Just before the ballot on the wage offer management stated during a business review meeting that they want more and more productivity and a reduction in all costs. It is really amazing how limitless greed and arrogance does not allow them to see that workers want a little more in return for the relentless demands they make.

Their blind condition is compounded by the Trade Union abandonment of its basic responsibilities, the protection of workers jobs. The Trade Union wants employees to accept 100 more contract workers on the shop floor even while they are in talks about a separation package for full time employees, twisted logic there. Everyone is aware that in a short time t there will be practically no directly employed people at the plant. This in turn will lead to the abuse of contact labour in terms of very poor conditions and wages.

I seriously wonder who our Trade Union represents. Perhaps it is time to consider the very poor value they give for the hard earned funds we give them. Are Trade Unions representatives securing their positions of comfort at others expense. Perhaps the following is a reasonable explanation of their sell out.

There can be no doubt that the future of the plant is not for many more years. The proposed development all around the IBC plant consisting of a top end of the market Hotel, Casino, Retail Park and Domestic Housing can only happen if the really ugly, dull, fortress type place is demolished. Please give us a break and do not take us for complete morons. There is even a limit to the amount of tripe that middle management can or will swallow. It is noted how the mobile corporate players that are useful for GM needs have been moved out and those that are about to be moved to Russia.
