Facts have been clarified – Negotiations to be continued
After the negotiations in Berlin had been stopped efforts were made to clear up the situation with all negotiating parties during the day and find ways to solve the open issues.
These talks included a detailed phone call between Klaus Franz and Fritz Henderson which revealed the following facts:
· The 350 Mio $ said to be additionally requested by General Motors are part of the 1.5 Bill € loan previously applied for. There was no intention to extend this funding. The issue was to shift an amount within the financial plan and make it due for payment earlier than originally planned.
· The contracts covering the consolidation of the European plants, National Sales Companies and values under Adam Opel GmbH and the trust company have been signed by General Motors and the US Treasury.
· Misunderstandings regarding the requested funding caused confusion between the parties.
The negotiating parties have meanwhile talked about the issues and discussed ways of solving the problems. The official negotiations will continue this afternoon.
