Employee Representatives and unions from GM sites in Central and Eastern Europe meet in Eisenach at EEF Regional Conference
Today Employee Representatives and unions from all sites where General Motors Europe is doing business in Central and Eastern Europe have met with the European Employee Forum of GM (EEF) in Eisenach, Germany
The EEF Regional Network Conference Central and Eastern Europe has been held in Eisenach, Germany on July 4-5 with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. Union representatives from the following sites has take part in the conference to talk with members of the European Works Council of GM from Western Europe: Togliatti/Russia, Zaporoshje/Ukraine, Warsaw/Poland, Bielsko-Biala/Poland, Tychy/Poland, Gliwice/Poland, Szentgotthard/Hungary.
The plant union representatives reported today the status of the operation at their plant and had a chance to disuss labor relations with GME Management which was invited for a joint session in the morning. In the afternoon the Chairman of the EEF, Klaus Franz (Rüsselsheim, Germany) gave an overview of General Motors Global strategy and the challenges of global vehicle architectures for the unions worldwide. Clemens Rode, Friedrich Ebert Foundation Office Warsaw, Poland, presented facts and figures on new developments on the labor markets, wages and outsourcing in Central and Eastern Europe. One of the objectives of the conference which has been held since 4 years once a year is the exchange of information and the development of joint strategies. Comments and translations especially from unions, workers and plant representatives from GM plants in Central and Eastern Europe are welcome.
