EMF Trade Union Coordination Group for GM will be held in Aspern, Austria
The Trade Union Coordination Group for GM of the European Metalworkers' Federation will be held in connection with a Workshop of the GMEECO II project in Aspern, Austria on September 3-4. Aspern is a GM Powertrain site which is producing engines and transmissions.
Union and Works Council Representatives from every GM site in Europe as well as national officers of the unions represented at GM in Europe are going to discuss several issues which are important for the GM employees all over Europe. Two topics will be discussed in particular: The wage demands by the unions in every country with a GM site and the preparations for a Global Action Day against precarious work in October. For example the IG Metall shop stewards at the Opel site in Rüsselsheim, Germany, recently decided to demand a 9% wage increase after a survey amongst the union members.
