DOWN DAYS IN OCTOBER AT ELLESMERE PORT

What does "bk" mean?

we at ellesmere port go bk after two weeks and work the first week in november as normal after that we dont know ,the hours are being capped at180 hours but after that we will be still be getting paid rumous of a week off in november and a month in december are still floating around not comfirmed though

The plants are down for 2-3 weeks in October and you can expect the same for November. I bet!

e.port.down week next week,and week after to phone in to see if we are needed,is this happening elsewere ?

The worrying thing in all this is, how long can the company keep paying our wages and not sell cars. Rumour has it that the "corridor agreement" hours are capped at 180. Any basis for this ? or is it scaremongering.

Rumours are rife and worrying yet not a word from the Union. Get off your backsides and at least reassure your members and that you are doing something to justify your wages !!!

we have a corridor agreement luckily for us so we still get payed downside is you have to pay the hours back which will probably mean saturday mornings with out pay in the future

yes we are getting down days at luton as well but the info is without pay ,is it the same in e-port ?

with the prospect of the employees car scheme cars being delayed till at least jan 2009 i wonder if this a case of using these cars to massage the sales figures you tend to wonder what the hell is going on with gm at the moment

there are obvious problems with the european/world economy,however the silence from the organisation and moreover,our union,does not fill me with confidence.being a e'port press shop employee we are used to being let down by the union and thier shop floor representatives

Well I hope its not too difficult for you all. These are very tough times. Of course it will go on unless the totally anti social hooligans that are causing it are made to account for their actions. Demand answers from your union, MPs, and most of all from the BBC we pay them a lot of money to inform and educate the public about what is happening and who is making it happen in society. I bet nobody is presenting the hooligans in pin stripe suits with ASBOs. Its up to each of you to demand accountability. Good luck.
