4th Regional Network Conference Central and Eastern Europe
The European EMployee Forum of General Motors and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation office in Warsaw are going to set up the 4th EEF Regional Network Conference Central and Eastern Europe. Participants are coming from all plants in Central and Eastern Europe where General Motors is doing business including representatives from the union headquarters. on July 1-3 in Eisenach, Germany.
The conference includes a part with GM Management on the GM strategy in Europe, development of the Central and Eastern European plants and the labor relations in this area. The internal part of the conference for the employee representatives includes reports on experiences and problems in the Central and Eastern European plants as well as presentations about "New developments on the labor markets, in the payments and in outsourcing in the Central European industry" and about "GM's global strategy and global architectures". The conference includes also a visit of the plant. One of the most important issues during the Network conferences during the last years was the report on the "GME Principles of Social Responsibility" and their implementation on the plant level in Central and Eastern Europe. Last year the reports given by the plant union representatives showed a very bad status of labor relations in all of the plants where GM is doing business. Hopefully, the reports this year will show some improvements.
