Trollhättan to produce Saab 9-3 and Rüsselsheim Astra

Carl-Peter Forster, President of General Motors Europe, informed the union and workforce in Trollhättan as well as the works council and workforce in Rüsselsheim that the next Saab 9-3 developed on the Delta Global Vehicle Architecture will be built in Trollhättan. Rüsselsheim will get the flexibility to produce other Delta versions.

All current plant volume committments and contracts for Rüsselsheim and the Delta plants still stay in force.

It means that given the fact that the Saab 9-3 changed the global architecture from Epsilon to Delta (nearly 60.000 units) which were foreseen for the Rüsselsheim plant now will be produced in Trollhättan and that the Astra Delta volume which were foreseen for the Trollhättan plant will move to Rüsselsheim to replace the lost volume.

Hopefully, this information explains a little bit more what is currently published and discussed in the media.

Another slap in the face for the Antwerp plant!
shame on you...
What´s the problem when the Saab 9-3 go`s from Rüsselsheim to Trollhätten and the Astra from Trollhätten to Rüsselsheim. But if Bochum also whats to have this volume than it is a ovensive aganist Rüsselsheim and not an act of solidarity
Don't think so for the moment. They have an European agreement until 2016.
Bad news for Bochum i think!
Strange decision this one. I thought the idea was that the new Saab and Epsilon shared a common platform so it made sense to build both cars in one plant. Now the Saab is going back to Trollhattan and the new Astra will be made in Russelsheim. Makes you wonder what the company are really up to, and seems like another kick in the teeth for Antwerp.
